In the garrigues near Montpellier, the Pic Saint-Loup vineyards are home to the village of Lauret.

The walker can perfect his wine culture and satisfy his curious mind: indeed, not far from the Rocher du Causse on the Hortus plateau, there are rich archaeological remains of all periods.

The cellars on the plain offer the opportunity to combine a walk, a visit to a site from the Copper Age and wine tasting.
The cellars where the Pic Saint-Loup wines (AOP Languedoc / AOC Coteaux du Languedoc) are matured are accessible all year round. In the off-season, when the cold weather puts both man and nature to sleep, the Soup Festival becomes a pretext for a pleasant tasting.

After a short tour along the banks of the Brestalou, a small tributary of the Vidourle whose waters fed several mills, leave the plain of Lauret to climb the causse de l'Hortus. The road is narrow and winds through fragrant pine forests. At the top, the view is of the vineyards and the cliffs on the edge of the plateau.
